Rob Zombie--Hellbilly Deluxe (1998/Geffen)
Rating--8.0
Living Dead Girl--RealAudio
The first solo effort by the White Zombie frontman, and much along the same lines musically
and thematically. Still the same horror-movie weirdness in places, and some punishing grooves and rhythms as well.
The
driving distortion beat of "Superbeast" is a good starter, and lead single "Dragula" is solid. The creeping pace and stalking vocals
stand out in "Living Dead Girl," while "Demonoid Phenomenon" is swift from start to finish.
A couple of simply nasty tracks--
"Meet the Creeper" and "The Ballad of Resurrection Joe and Rosa Whore"-- help make this an overall tasty treat.
