A Roll of the Dice--RealAudio
A more consistent and solid followup to the band's debut, and more in a blues-metal direction--though just about every song is still dotted with great riffs and chords. Dirtier distortion, and the vocals reek of Ray Gillen and a smoother David Coverdale. A great ride, and again, plenty o' riffs.
The sassy and strutting "H.H. Boogie" is a highlight, and heavy riffs move "When the Night Comes Down," "The Sun Also Rises in Hell," and "A Roll of the Dice."
"Shake Down the Walls" is a thick and chord-infested romp, and opening track "Face Down in the Gutter" is pure grind. The sleazy and bluesy "Whiskey on a Heartache" is a bit like a less-serious Lynch Mob, as the band's musical maturity shows through their song variations.
