White Zombie--La Sexorcisto: Devil Music Vol. 1 (1992)
Rating--7.5
Thunder Kiss--RealAudio
Industrial/techno metal, but with mounds of riffs! Hardcore in nature, though with razor-sharp distortion.
Sabbath-heavy and fast; also, incorporation of sound bytes here and there add flavor. Not a terribly
great amount of variety, especially in Rob Zombie's vocals, but a fist-pumping trip just the same.
The best of the best include
the ripping shreds of "Thunder Kiss," "Thrust!," and "Black Sunshine," with the last featuring a cryptic spoken intro by Iggy Pop
that melts straight into a thumping chug.
Other high points, all with solid chops, include "Soul-Crusher," "One Big Crunch,"
"Grindhouse," and "Welcome to Planet Motherfucker."
More above-average fare from an ever-changing metal scene. Hey---At least it's
not alternative...
