Watchtower - Control and Resistance (1989/Noise) |
||
|
Spearheaded by guitarist Ron Jarzombek, Watchtower played a brand of technical/progressive thrash that was relatively new to the scene. There are tons of
solos, lead runs, and even bass doodlings, and this release would go on to influence a number of similarly-styled bands in the '90s (think Spiral Architect, among others).
Because of that impact it is definitely worthy of recognition, but overall the music and compositions are a bit too disjointed, and the high pitched vocals of Alan Tecchio
are erratic at times. TRACK LIST: Instruments of Random Murder/The Eldritch/Mayday in Kiev/The Fall of Reason/Control and Resistance/Hidden Instincts/Life Cycles/Dangerous Toy
