White Skull--Tales From the North (1999/Nuclear Blast)
Rating--7.8
The Killing Queen--RealAudio
A very heavy Grave Digger and Blind Guardian influence, as
there's plenty of rapid double-bass and other standard Euro-speed trademarks. Gruff vocals---along the same lines as the
aforementioned groups. This band also weaves its songs into one basic theme or story--again a similarity.
A good pickup in "Viking's Tomb" accelerates the pace following a slow beginning, and "Gods
of the Sea" is good. A sharp riff backbone is the focus
in "The Killing Queen," and "Kriemhild Story" is nice and chunky.
All of "Asgard," "Sighting and Feasting," and "Here
We Are" are solid, with a large portion of the tracks being of the fast-and-intricate nature.
