White Skull - The Dark Age (2003/Frontiers)
Rating - 7.8

Think "Grave Digger Light," as this isn’t quite as bottom-heavy or thick as the teutonic terrors, and has a bit more keyboard flavor added in. And, well... the songs are quite as good, either.
This release deals with the Inquisition, so from a storytelling angle offers a nice experience. Some chops turn up in "Maid of Orleans," while "A New Handbook" boasts a thick lurch. "Devil’s Woman" is strong and "New Crusade" holds its own, but while "The Edict" starts out with a prowling intro and verses, the chorus gets a big too happy, unfortunately. Shame, as it could have easily been the disc’s top spot.
