Wolf - Wolf (2000/No Fashion)
Rating - 7.9

Wolf is a Swedish band that plays a fairly classic brand of Power Metal, though their sound will evolve and improve over the course of their first three albums. The vocals of Niklas Olsson are high and clear, though on this debut they can be a bit strained at times. The leadwork, pace, and double-guitar rhythms all remind somewhat of early Maiden and more recent bands such as Steel Attack, as it is a swift, modern and rolling approach. A good deal of consistant music can be found on this self-titled release, but not a lot of great songs are showing up just yet.
"Electric Rage" and "The Voyage" are two of the album's stronger cuts, with "In the Eye of the Sun" being cutting and mystical. All of "In the Shadow of Steel," "The Parasite," and "The Sentinel" are good listens.
