Widowmaker--Stand By For Pain (1994)
Rating--8.6
Ready to Fall--RealAudio
The Iron Road--RealAudio
Second release by former Twisted Sister frontman Dee Snider, and an extremely solid offering. Reminds of Gruntruck, My Sister's Machine, and other solid 90's no-frills bands. Much heavier and more serious than T. Sister was; the guitars are precise and heavy, and Dee sounds stronger than ever.
Highlights include "Killing Time", "Ready to Fall", "Just Business", "The Iron Road", and "Your Sorrow". Very sharp and impressive work by guitarist Al Pitrelli, who latter went on to do some work with Savatage--though this is probably is shining moment.
HOT CHOPS--"Ready to Fall" and "The Iron Road" are stellar. "Ready to Fall" has a classic guitar groove to it, which is pure power. "The Iron Road" has a great chorus that shows us that Dee still has both range and emotion as a vocalist. The harmonies are reminiscent of the older T. Sister songs, though the song itself is a bit heavier.
