Warlock--Triumph and Agony (1987)
Rating--7.1
All We Are--RealAudio
Led by (then) blonde bombshell Dora Pesch, this cutting release blends the vocal bite of Phantom
Blue with slight musical offerings of a Dokken, and occasionally even commercial and
riff-driven Priest. However, the precision levels of those bands are not always achieved. A decent
enough platter, but the overall song quality drops off towards the end as Pesch tends to go a little overkill on the vox, and screams and
screeches several songs into slight annoyance.
The top highlights are "Three Minute Warning," "I Rule the Ruins," and "Kiss
of Death," which, along with lead single and cruncher "All We Are," display fast riffs and strong six-string chops. "East
Meets West" and "Metal Tango" both stand strong as well, as the overall good guitar sound of this release shines brightly.
A good buy for those who love female vox with their metal.
