Warrior--Ancient Future (1998/Metal Blade)
Rating--7.1
Pray--RealAudio
The band finally returns following its 1991 release 'Fighting For the Earth'. This is power metal, but the styles of the songs shift somewhat throughout
the disc. Shades of 'Downside'-era Hades, perhaps; half of the tracks here were co-written by Roy Z (unrelated info). Vocally there's a deeper Tim Owens feel, as well
as bits of Jon Oliva and maybe even Graham Bonnet. Better consistency would help out in the future.
A chord-driven slow groove drags through "Pray," and other
good tracks include the steady "White Mansions," the swagger of "Power," and both "Fight or Fall" and "Who Sane?"
