W.A.S.P.--The Headless Children (1989/Capitol)
Rating--8.1
The Headless Children--RealAudio
The band turns a new corner here, as there is a definite sense of maturation in its music and lyric writing. Solid throughout, this album continues with the
tougher-sounding tunes of 'Electric Circus,' and begins the buildup to 'The Crimson Idol'.
The title track is a top spot, along with the nasty roller "Maneater".
A number of songs check in as strong fare: "The Heretic," "Thunderhead," "Mean Man," "The
Neutron Bomber," and "Rebel in the F.D.G.".
The lead single from this disc was the band's cover of the Who's "The Real Me". An ok track overall, but having
never been a big fan of Daultry and the Who I've never been too terribly warm on it. Ah well.
