Vinnie Vincent Invasion--Vinnie Vincent Invasion (1986)

Shoot U Full of Love--RealAudio Twisted--RealAudio

From the patterned songwriting of Kiss to an explosive and razor-tearing distortion driven machine, guitarist Vinnie Vincent sets in front of us a non-stop platter of soaring vocals and riffs. Heavy to the extreme, with solos packed into every niche imaginable. Vincent caught a lot of flack for his extravagant and self-centered style, but the fact remains that the man could write some absolutely hellacious hooks. A truly blistering package.
You might as well not relax when this one starts to spin, as there's no time to breathe once it gets going. "Boyz Are Gonna Rock" begins with a feedback whine that melts into a rapid chord movement, and the vox of Robert Fleischman take off in response. Groove and crunch dot "Shoot U Full of Love" and "Animal," and "No Substitute" has a silky smooth kick-in.
The excellent and flowing "Do You Wanna Make Love" begins the album's second half, and is followed up by the slower and more methodical "Back on the Streets," which is actually a strong vocal duet between Vincent and Fleischman. More bar riffs and pull-offs fuel the pace of "I Wanna Be Your Victim," and "Baby-O" moves from bruising verses to a melodic, atmospheric chorus.
In all, a tremendous mix of '80s lyric writing and near power/extreme music. A must for fans of flash guitar, if you can still find it around.
