Back to Me--RealAudio
German-based progressive metal in a somewhat Dream Theater-like niche, though with more solidity to the songs. The distortion sound here is to-the-edge and ripping, ala Dokken circa 'Back for the Attack'-- with definite Lynch tendencies, to boot.
Andy Kuntz' vocals on this debut are a bit strained, but will smooth out dramatically in the future. His tones fall somewhere between LaBrie and Saxon's Biff Byford.
Opening track "Father" incorporates some great kick-in distortion, and "Push" is heavy and swift, with a strong flow.
The atmospheric, Queensryche chug of "When the Wind Blows" is solid, and each of "My Crying," "Soul Survives," and "Judas" is good.
Heavy chords mark "Days of Thunder," while "Back to Me" is an album top spot with its drive-and-stalk mainframe.
