Valley's Eve - Prodigia (1996/ZYX)
Rating - 8.1

Valley's Eve is fronted by the excellent Greek vocalist Roberto Dimitri Liapakis, and here on their debut album they offer up some atmospheric, power/progressive metal. Liapakis' voice brings to mind a mix of Tad Morose, Angel Dust, and Iced Earth (Barlow), while musically there are shades of Conception, Tad Morose, and mid-career Elegy present, with underlying keys popping up here and there. The distortion remains strong, but on the whole there are a number of building/creeping tracks, and this is not as overall aggressive as they will soon become.
"Self Proclaimed Messiah" and "Misconception" are two of the heaviest tracks present, with "Amnesia" and "Unconscious" building up slowly. "Ulterior Quest" is a creeping and crawling treat, and both "Trivial" and "Last Question" are good as well.

TRACK LIST: Escape/Stigmata/Self Proclaimed Messiah/Ulterior Quest/Amnesia/Dawn on Tears/Unconscious/Misconception/Trivial/Last Question/Eleftheria/ Perishable/Beverage of Life
