Valley's Eve - Deception of Pain (2002/LMP)
Rating - 8.9

In Your Head--RealAudio
Falling--RealAudio

Ripping power metal, pure and simple. There are thick flavorings of recent Tad Morose, and a good bit of Brainstorm, Angel Dust, and heavy Balance of Power as well. There's great distortion, the vocals are strong and soaring, and the pace is fueled by double-bass rhythms when needed.
The third release from this group, they have definitely improved with age.
Every track shines and crackles. Where do you begin? "In Your Head" has a chugging and rolling chorus, "Falling" is a patented back-mover, "Open the Gates" is nasty and thick, and "Mirror in Your Eyes" bends with a steady pace.
The band shows an ability to shift tempos at times, as "The Sun" is a methodical mover, and "Dark Room" is slower and lurking.
Did I not mention your favorite track from this smoker? Not to worry--like I said, they're all t-bone tasty...
