UDO--Holy (2000/Nuclear Blast)
Rating--8.3

Danger--RealAudio
The former lead man for Accept continues to crank out metal with his solo group, and he's laid down a solid slab with this release. Like fellow NWOBHM brothers Saxon, we find Udo re-emerged and stronger than ever before. The standard thick chords of Accept's heyday remain, but with an updated sound. There's some chunky, early-80's Priest, as well as shades of German-mates Sinner.
Nearly every track has its high points, from the title song to the light-hearted, refreshing closer "Cut Me Out". Faster cuts include "Raiders of Beyond" and "Back Off," while "Shout it Out" and "Thunder in the Tower" are chunkier.
A steady chord pulse moves "Recall the Sin" and "Danger," "Friends Will be Friends" is a flowing highlight, and "Ride the Storm" is good.
