Testament--Live at the Fillmore (1995/Burnt Offerings)
Rating--8.2
Into the Pit--RealAudio
Recorded on the band's 'Low' tour, which means we get treated to a host of older tracks performed with the group's now-thicker distortion sound. There are three
studio "unplugged" songs at album's end, "Return to Serenity," "The Legacy," and "Trail of Tears," and all are good. One slight drawback, however, is the lack of tunes
from 'The Ritual'.
Deep distortion gives new life to "The Preacher," "Into the Pit," "Souls of Black," and "Practice What You Preach," as James Murphy puts his stamp firmly on each.
Numerous others shine in standard Testament solidity: "Alone in the Dark," "Eerie Inhabitants," "The New Order," "Low," and "Dog Faced Gods".
Recorded in the
band's home area of San Francisco, Chuck Billy and the boys give their fans a rousing performance.
