Trixter--Trixter (1990/MCA)
Rating--7.1
Heart of Steel--RealAudio
This band missed the boat by about four years. If they had hit the scene around 1986, they could have been real big. The
band boasts an early Bon Jovi sound (BJ's heavier stuff), and have pretty sharp distortion
throughout the release. Ahhhh well!
Opening track "Line of Fire" has some sharp cuts, and a good drive marks "Heart of Steel". The upbeat and summer-carefree
"Only Young Once" is good, and more hair attitude is apparent in the note chops of "Bad Girl".
A strafing strut makes
"Play Rough" a high point, with "Always a Victim" good as well.
A good disc to add if you like that sharp, catchy, but simple era that's
described above.
