Tread is an indie band hailing from Colorado. There are shouty vox for the most part (though they are smooth in places), and the distortion is a bit muddled and dark. The music has shades of hardcore, and occasionally shows flashes of nu-metal--but isn't nearly as trendy. Instead, at the band's best moments, they remind a good deal of Engine, the Ray Alder and Joey Vera side project from 1999.
"My Own" has some nasty riffing, and "Destroying My Enemy" is another good highlight. Other tough cuts include "What U Are," "Deconstruction," "Scarless Torture," and the title track.
