Trouble--Run to the Light (1987/Metal Blade)

Thinking of the Past--RealAudio
There are basically two eras of Trouble: pre-1990, and post-1990. The "pre" era is more murky and reminiscent of early Sabbath, while the later is simply bonecrushing, with updated distortion and distinctive riffs. As you can see from the date, this disc fits under the first distinction.
Not quite as bass-driven as the band's debut, but at the same time not as riff-sharp as they will become. A good offering, but the band will improve...
"On Borrowed Time" builds up throughout, and has some nice time shifts and riff drives. The title track follows immediately thereafter, and offers more of the same.
A number of tracks are solid--"Thinking of the Past," "Peace of Mind," "Tuesday's Child," the chug of "The Beginning," and "Born in a Prison," which features a great pre-solo pickup.
Nice work from a then-underrated band--though, once again, they will only get better.
