Consume to Live--RealAudio
The debut release from this European power/prog unit. Smooth overall, with good vocal rhythms, and plenty of driving sections. Heavy (layered) keyboard work in places, with light atmospheric shades of Conception cropping up at times. Excellent vocalist Damian Wilson is featured here; he will later return on the third studio album...
Disc opener "Consume to Live" is good, and has a driving chorus. That steady feel is matched in "Paradox," and "Siege of Baghdad" has a rhythmic drive as well.
Some nasty slow-note riffing cuts through "Mother Earth," while a great vocal/rhythm chorus picks up "Sanity's End," following a light start. The slower "Days of Dearth" has a more methodical pace, and pulses along nicely.
A standout band, and one which will truly blossom in a couple of years.
