Life's Too Good--RealAudio
The band eases back on the prog a bit, and the result is a rawer, thicker, and more in-your-face distortion sound. A bit like Hollow in places, though not quite as unabased. New singer Andrew 'Mac' McDermott is a good fit for the newer style (which, by the way, is still a very good style!).
A smooth-but-driving chorus allows "The Latent Gene" to stand out, and the head-moving and stutter-chop chorus of "Life's Too Good" is excellent.
"Lovelorn" is slow and crunching, and both "Angels" and "Goodbye Mother Earth" are good tracks.
Once again, Threshold shows that it definitely belongs in today's metal realm. More is looked forward to.
