Despite being overall heavier than the previous release, the rhythm distortion is still mixed too far back. A perfect case in point is the title track-- a strong tune with a heavy flow, but simply a bit too muddled sounding to truly break out. A good second half of the disc helps, though, as the band continues to improve on its smooth, hard-rock ways.
Early tracks "Bright on the Blade" and "Arcadia" are both good, and the pace really starts to pick up with the faster "Battlelines". A note-based drive moves "Fly Like and Eagle," and the solid "Ten Fathoms Deep" is a top highlight.
