You're My Religion--RealAudio
Hard rock, with a melodic feel and flow. Very good muscianship, but just not enough consistent edge to the songs. Vocally, lead singer Gary Hughes has a smooth and deep voice. However, his voice here is a bit too contained; he never really lets loose, instead opting to stay on an even keel throughout. This (somewhat) lack of emotion eventually detracts a bit from some of the songs.
Overall, comparisons can be made to groups like Hardline (though not as good), Emerald Rain, and the like. The band will improve on later releases...
A good acoustic intro to the title song eventually gives way to a sharp distortion sound, and the track's swift pace makes it a top highlight. Nice rolling riffs let "You're My Religion" stand out, and both "Don't Cry" and "Wings of the Storm" are good.
"Through the Fire," while slower, blends a good mix of acoustic and distorted sounds-- a trademark of the band upon which they will later expand.
