Church of the Devil: Tribute to King Diamond (2000/Dwell)
Rating - 6.0

The Waiting--RealAudio

This tribute offering features mostly straight-ahead reincarnations of the originals, with a few Black Metal versions thrown in here and there. It's only average overall, unless possibly you're a huge KD fan. Some of the other Dwell releases are better rides.
Opener "The Family Ghost" was a good choice, as the vocals sound almost exactly like the master himself. Other notables include "The Waiting," "The Poltergeist," "Arrival," and "Twilight Symphony".
"The Wedding Dream," performed by Waves, is given somewhat of a bluesy, semi-funkified feel. It's always good to see an original take every now and then on tribute albums.
