The Sygnet--Children of the Future (1998/Victor)
Rating--8.0

Tragedy--RealAudio
The Sygnet is an all-star type of project that will evolve into the band Silent Force for its follow-up release. The main players (on this release) are Sinner guitarist Alex Beyrodt and Jaded Heart vocalist Michael Bormann. Andre Hilgers and Michael Muller fill out the lineup.
Not as nasty-riffed as Sinner, but heavier and more aggressive than Jaded Heart. The distortion is sharp and good, and there's a progressive/ expansive flow to the music. Bormann's smooth voice will be replaced by the caustic and razor-edged D.C. Cooper in Silent Force, and the band's direction will be sharper and nastier as well.
"Tears of Rage" features some chopping and heavier work, and "Tragedy" has a strong rhythm. A light/heavy mix highlights "Unload the Gun," and all of "Fire in Paradise," "Devil in Disguise," "Insincere," and "Hero" are good.
There's also a bonus, un-named 13th track which is impressive as well. This disc is a bit hard to find, but a nice aquisition for the melodic/progressive/power fan.
