The Bird-Serpent War--RealAudio
More insane, nonstop guitar wizardry from Michael Romeo and company. The band continues to be at the top of the precision-based metal heap, with tightly-honed chops, rolling songs, and intense bursts of energy and talent.
The riff-fest "Evolution" strikes early, and is followed in suit by "Fallen".
"The Bird-Serpent War" is full of rolling, harmonic-filled rhythm runs, and a stuttering chorus spits at you from within "Absence of Light". More choppage is contained within the long track "Rediscovery (Part II)," while "A Fool's Paradise" is good and fast.
After five releases, Symphony X has shown no signs of slowing down, no signs of selling out, no signs of deviating from its unique, majestic-and-killer sound. Definitely a band that is helping the metal scene, whether you favor its particular style and genre or not.
