Seven Witches - Passage to the Other Side (2003/Noise)

Mental Messiah--RealAudio

James Rivera (Helstar, Destiny's End) replaces Wade Black on vocals, and fits well with that Black/Owens/Halford style. The music continues in the fast, power/semi-thrash variety, reminding of recent efforts from both Halford and Annihilator. Another strong offering from guitarist Jack Frost, bassist Joey Vera, and company.
"Dance With the Devil" is a solid opener, and is followed by the skin-slicing riffs and vocals of "Mental Messiah". "Betrayed" is a sharp and predatory track, with all of "Johnny," "Apocalyptic Dreams," and the title cut being good.
The band continues with its penchant for cover songs, this time giving a rolling rendition of the early-career Def Lep classic "Wasted".
