Static X--Wisconsin Death Trip (1999/Warner Brothers)
Rating--8.1
Static-X -- Bled For Days
Nasty, grooving distortion and chops---along the lines of White Zombie, but more
consistently heavy. At times there are some slight shades of Geezer, as well.
The vocals are
growly and distorted, and many times undistinguisable, as far as specific words.
The first half of this disc rips, and
unfortunately the pace eventually
eases off a bit.
Both "Push It" and "I'm With Stupid" are good and steady, and are followed up by the thick
and open-handed "Bled For Days".
"Love Dump" is fueled by a rapid-chug rhythm, and "I Am" is pulsing and solid.
"Otsegolation" has a bass-backed, thudding groove, and some nasty pick-scraping adds to the mischief...
