Stratovarius - Elements Part 2 (2003/Nuclear Blast)
Rating - 8.0

This second installment of the 'Elements' series is pretty much standard form for Strat. Consistency from the band is definitely one of their strong points, but at the same time there is nothing really groundbreaking or breathtaking here. While staying true to their obviously strong style, the band may also be in danger of falling into a creative rut. Along those same semi-down lines... is Timo's voice starting to sound a bit strained at times?... Maybe so, maybe so.
Opening track "Alpha & Omega" has a slow sway and crunch, and "Awaken the Giant" is very similar in nature. The good flow and pace of "I Walk to My Own Song" helps it become a top spot, with the fueled "I'm Still Alive" being fast and swift. Another good track is "Dreamweaver".
If you're a fan of the bulk of Stratovarious' catalog, you should find enough here to keep you satisfied--though not floored.
