Skid Row--Skid Row (1989)
Rating--8.9
Makin' a Mess--RealAudio
Piece of Me--RealAudio
A very solid commercial debut, as MTV really backed Skids on this release. If memory serves me correct, they were also opening for Motley Crue at the time on the 'Dr. Feelgood' tour, which didn't hurt. However, despite its commercial catchiness, it still is very solid. Highlights include "Big Guns", "Piece of Me", "18 and Life", "Here I Am", "Midnight/Tornado", the anthemic "Youth Gone Wild", and the summertime ballad "I Remember You". Several of the heavier songs hint the direction the band would soon be taking.
HOT CHOPS--"Piece of Me". Rather simplistic, but strong and in-your-face just the same. Check the tough bass intro.
