Squealer--The Prophecy (1999/Metal Blade)
Rating--7.2
Friends For Life--RealAudio
I was expecting an AC/DC clone, given the band's name... but in reality this is a European power unit. There are shades of both Gamma Ray
and Iron Savior, though the music isn't quite as tight or refined as those bands. There are some melodic, Savior-like choruses, and on the
whole the vocals are rough-edged and strong-- reminding at times of Wicked Maraya's singer.
The rapid-riffing of "Friends for Life" is layered over a double-bass frame, and "Nowhere to Hide" is another strong cut. A thick chorus stands out in "...But No One
Cares," and both "The Meaning of Life" and "Hold On Tight" are good-- with the latter boasting some chunky chord work.
