Set the Tone-mp3

This offering effectively follows up where 1998's 'Rising' left off. Unfortunately, the band is nearing its end at this point, and would soon go their separate ways (more on that in the 'Violate This' review). Despite the impending breakup, this remains a solid, ass-kicking platter, as the band was a one-of-a-kind destruction machine.
The hilarious (and true) "Lesson in Insensitivity" begins the disc, and then the strong chunk and flow of "Hatebreed" gives you just that. "Set the Tone" is again heavy and flowing, and numerous other songs fall in line: "Raise the Deadman," "Give War a Chance," the back-twisting chorus of "Walk the Line," and the nasty grinding of "Feel it Coming Down."
"Drawing Blood" has some biting harmonics to go along with a great, unheralded melody, and "The Ward is My Shepard" is a chugging instrumental with leads throughout. A solid release, and a suitable studio swansong for the band.
