Street Legal--Thunderdome (2000/Frontiers)
Rating--8.0
Shadow Dance--RealAudio
A hard rock/metal mix, in that it sounds at times like Emerald Rain, at others like an AOR band such as The Storm, and in
chunky moments a bit along the lines of (an updated) Thin Lizzy, perhaps. Smooth-but-strong vocals complete the picture.
Opener "Thunderdome" is a fast-paced
and sharp track, with cutting harmonics. A roll-out rhythm moves "Chasing the Rainbow," and "Shadow Dance" is slashing and good.
Energetic tracks are
represented by "Stranger in the Night," "In the Mood," "Powertool," and "Folly Town," and more thick notes and harmonics show up in the steady "Red Light District".
"Calling For You" is a heartfelt slow track, and quite good--in another time and genre, it would have made some waves.
