Sinner--The End of Sanctuary (2000/Nuclear Blast)
Rating--8.1
Hand of the Saint--RealAudio
Mat Sinner continues to pull double duty with Primal Fear, here releasing a new offering from his self-named band. Not quite as
bottom-heavy as the band's previous two studio releases, instead being a bit swifter. The songwriting probably plays a part in that, as there aren't as many deep-riffed bonecrunchers as
before. Still sharp, though, and a good power metal listen.
"Signed, Sealed & Delivered" is a good and slashing opener, and strong notes slice through the background
of the title track.
The slow groove of "Pain In Your Neck" is classic Sinner nastiness, and "Hand of the Saint" is sliding and similar. A good number of other tracks
are fast and solid, including "Edge of the Blade," "The Prophecy," "Congress of Deceit," and "Broken World".
