Live For the Day--RealAudio Broken Wings--RealAudio

The project collaboration of D.C. Cooper (D.C. Cooper, Royal Hunt) and Alex Beyrodt (Sinner, The Sygnet). The names of those bands alone should let you know what you're in store for: Power metal solidity, prog/symphonic mystique, and soaring, well-written vocals. This release is heavier than D.C.'s solo effort, but retains many of the same awe-inspiring qualities. In all, a great metal release.
The spoken, majestic-music narrative "The Beginning" starts the disc off, and hints at the story held within. Once it gives way to the constant and ripping "Live For the Day," the metalfest is underway. Cooper's spine-tingling vocals etch through the title track, and more great verse singing shows up in the slower "New Experiment".
Tight riffing and a soaring chorus make "Saints and Sinners" a top track, while the stalk-and-harmonic axe frame of "Broken Wings" is wicked.
Several fast tracks dot the horizon, including the double-bass roll of "Tell Me Why," the rapid "Six Past the Hour," and "We Must Remain" with its Halford-like chorus.
Cooper and Beyrodt are quickly adding themselves to the group of musicians that includes Ralf Scheepers, Mat Sinner, Kai Hansen, John Schaffer, Hansi Kursh, and the like--Everything they touch tends to glisten like gold.
