Scorpions - Unbreakable (2004/)
Rating - 7.7

This is a comeback album of sorts for the longtime German rockers, as it more or less returns to their ‘80s and early ‘90s days of metal. There are some heavy choppers, and quite a few that (while still employing distortion) have a lighthearted, carefree sound. Klaus Meine’s voice is the same as it was 20 years ago, to boot. There’s nothing really groundbreaking here, and quite a bit of the material is simplistic -- but it sounds like the Scorpions, which will be enough to please many of their fans of old.
The melodic flow of "Deep and Dark" reminds a bit of their late ‘70s stuff, whereas the rocking "This Time" is like the late ‘80s all over again.
"My City, My Town" has a smooth and steady rhythm, "Through My Eyes" starts light before giving way to a distorted chorus, and the rock n’ roll homage "Remember the Good Times" has a Beatles-like flow.
Other tracks that pass the grade are "Love ‘Em or Leave ‘Em," "Blood Too Hot," and "Can You Feel It."
