Chariots of Fire (w/ Dave Reece)--RealAudio
This re-release of the band's 1987 debut features Astrid Young (Neil's sister) on lead vocals for the first ten tracks, and then six unreleased cuts with the band's former frontman, David Reece. The latter has also sang for Accept, Bangalore Choir, and others.
The music is fairly biting, in the '80s vein of Fastway or even the more up-to-date sound of Phantom Blue. In fact, Young's vocal talents remind a lot of the ladies in Blue. Think a real nasty Pat Benatar, if you will....
Reece, in the meantime, is at his best when coming across like Eric Wagner of Trouble--which happens quite a bit. In fact, on two of Reece's tracks--"Chariots of Fire" and "Alive in Steel," his Wagnerisms actually cause the entire group to shift over to heavier Trouble-esque realms...
On Young's side, a number of cuts rock--"Burn For You" is strong, as is the namesake song "Sacred Child."
All six of the tracks Reece appears on are covered by Young in the first ten; the slight difference may be that the latter versions are slightly meatier.
Another great opportunity from Must Have Music to own a once out-of-print disc---the contact info is on the links page.
