Saxon - Wheels of Steel (1980/Carrerre)
Rating - 7.3

The NWOBHM band's second release, and where they first started to truly lay down roots in the metal scene. This is fairly straight-forward metal for the time, but you can hear hints of cranky blues-like metal underneath it all, ala Ted Nugent's 70s material.
"Motorcycle Man" has a decent flow, with the followup "Stand Up and Be Counted" having some yank-me, crank-me riffing. The title cut is steady throughout, and "Street Fighting Gang" is full of energy.
