Sanctuary--Into the Mirror Black (1990)
Rating--8.2
Future Tense--RealAudio
Taste Revenge--RealAudio
I'm waiting to see if this second release from the band grows on me a bit more, and it may in time. The sound is still heavy on this one, but more thrash and less flash. Not as heavy as the Nevermore stuff; maybe somewhere in between. Also, there's a noticed change in Warrel Dane's voice. He no longer hits the ballsack-gripped high notes; instead, it's a bit of a gruffer voice which will eventually evolve into the vocals you hear on his current albums. Two great tunes--"Future Tense" and "Taste Revenge", and another two which catch the ear--"The Mirror Black" and "Seasons of Destruction".
HOT CHOPS--The guitar work is extremely tight on this album, and that aspect is shown clearly when the first song kicks in. Nice rhythm, nice groove.
