Rob Rock - Eyes of Eternity (2003/Massacre)
Rating - 8.7

Rage of Creation--RealAudio

Rob Rock's second solo offering is a bit heavier than the last, with faster and more defined riffs. Rick Renstrom and Bob Rossi handle the everyday guitar duties on this disc, and they are more than capable with the solos -- for those who miss Chris Impellitteri. Roy Z plays a little, too, along with producing.
The Impellitteri-tinged opener "Rock the Earth" is strong and fueled, with "Stranglehold" having a churning, constant chorus. Other highlights include the stalking feel of "Rage of Creation," the heavy-handed "Conqueror's Hymn," the thickness of "Fields of Fire," and both "You Know" and the title track.
"The Hour of Dawn" is a 12-plus minute epic at album's end, which after a slow buildup features a heavy/light mix. There are numerous guest guitarist performing solos on the track, including Tom Nauman (Primal Fear), Jeff Kollman (Edwin Dare), Jack Frost (Seven Witches), Axel Rudi Pell, and more.
