Riot--Fire Down Under (1981)
Rating--8.1

A workman's approach to late '70s metal, as Riot bring a twin guitar offering with Scorpions-style distortion and Steve Harris-esque bass playing. This offering is considered by many to be the band's best from the formative years of its career.
Smooth rock vocals are present, along the lines of other hard rock artists of the time, ala Styx, UFO, etc. Shades of same-era Priest, as well as heavier Aerosmith, are evident throughout the music itself.
An "ancient" intro melts into groove rock on "Altar of the King", and other highlights include "Swords and Tequila", "Feel the Same", "Outlaw", and "Don't Hold Back".
This 1997 reissue contains several bonus tracks, which incorporate bits and pieces of both Kiss and Fastway into the band's musical mix.
