Rage--Black in Mind (1995)
Rating--8.5

Black in Mind--RealAudio
A much thicker and denser guitar sound gives this release a very heavy-handed feel, and as a result the band's riffs seem to melt into the background somewhat. A mix between the speed of 'Trapped!' and the heaviness of 'The Missing Link', but overall not quite as strong as either. Still heavy and brutal, though--make no mistake!
The title track is rapid and ultra-heavy, and similar speed is shown on "Sent By The Devil". "The Crawling Chaos" is strong throughout, and the drumwork really rolls before each chorus. "Alive But Dead" features a great riff around the 52 second mark, which provides for a nice change of pace. Similar shifts are evident throughout "In a Nameless Time", a 10-minute adventure.
A number of songs are simply classic Rage fare--"A Spider's Web", "Forever", "Until I Die", "Start!", and the ultra-heavy "The Price of War".
There are also two bonus tracks on the import version, if you're able to get your hands on it: the fast-paced "Tie the Rope," and the crunchy "Forgive but Don't Forget".
Another winner from Peavy and the boys...
