So Much Better--RealAudio
Hard rock in the alternative vein, as visions of Tonic, Stone Temple Pilots, Creed, and Pearl Jam are evoked. When the distortion is at its heaviest, the chunky and muddled sounds of the most recent Warrant albums come to mind as well. Clean, fairly smooth vocals.
"Sleep" has a heavy chorus framework, and "Inches" is heavy as well, with a riffy solo and emotional vox. The high-neck riffs of "Soakin'" stand out, and more chunky chords dot "It Wasn't." "So Much Better," the disc opener, is a solid listen as well.
While the band's sound may compare at times to "lighter" hard rock groups, the actual writing patterns of the songs push more towards a heavier feel and dimension, which should make this offering appeal to fans of various genres.
