Ratt--Ratt & Roll 8191 (1991/Atlantic)
Rating--9.2
Nobody Rides For Free--RealAudio
A hearty collection, featuring all of the band's singles--even including a couple of tracks from the hard-to-find first E.P. One of the '80s metal scene's staples,
Ratt was long the "anti-ballad" group, as they were simply about cutting riffs, fun tracks, and solid music. The only possible drawback here is that there are numerous other
quality Ratt cuts that weren't released as singles-- thus the casual fan that just picks up this "best of" release will miss out on a lot of good tunes. Still, 19 tracks
is a thick pallet, so there are no real complaints to be had.
One new song is included, in the
form of the steady and rhythmic "Nobody Rides For Free".
