Rage--Unity (2002/SPV)
Rating--8.3
Seven Deadly Sins--RealAudio
The band's popularity waned a bit after the dissapointing one-two punch of 'Lingua Mortis' and 'XIII', but 'Unity' is a strong step back to their pounding glory days.
There is good distortion, and an aggressive feel surrounds many of the tracks. The unit has gone back to having only one guitarist, and that may prove to be a
detracting element, as the rhythm sound on some songs would have benefitted from that extra six-string crunch.
Both "All I Want" and "Living My Dream" have that
flowing chorus that Wagner sings so well, and other solid numbers include "Insanity," "Set This World on Fire," "You Want It, You'll Get It," and "Seven Deadly Sins".
Cutting riffs and notes combine with hallowed singing on "Dies Irae," all of which help to leave a very positive impression.
Old fans of the band will find much to be
happy about here.
