Rage--XIII (1998/Gun)
Rating--7.3

Days of December--RealAudio
Not as open-handed and heavy as in the past, and there is not as much double-bass drumming to keep the flow as consistent and fluid as before, either. There are still the usual heavy and crunching spots, but overall not up to the level of a few years ago.
A sharp riff base moves "Days of December," and "Heartblood" grinds away. "Over and Over" is a faster track, and both "Sign of Heaven" and the title track are good.
Here's hoping the band can come back strong with its next release. With the large influx of solid power metal acts currently coming out of Europe, the point is fast arriving where Rage may have to prove that they can still get the job done like they did in the middle of the decade, else they find themselves quickly overshadowed...
