Queensryche--The Promised Land (1994)
Rating--8.3
Damaged--RealAudio
A musical change for Queensryche, as many of the songs are not as heavy as was the band's previous
style. This took quite awhile for many fans to get used to, and I actually didn't really like it until I saw the tunes performed live.
However, still some solid work.
"Damaged" has the heavier feel of old, and "My Global Mind" comes close. Some slower,
moodier tunes show up as well: "Bridge," "Lady Jane," and "One More Time". The album-ending"Someone Else?" is stunning,
but again takes some getting used to.
Definitely not 'Mindcrime,' but the band still has something to offer at this
point in its career.
HOT CHOPS--As for high points, I'd have to say the entire final song. Tate and a piano---not much better than that. Also, the
chug-chugga-chug of "Damaged". Niiice.
