Quiet Riot--Quiet Riot (1988)
Rating--5.5
Without being told, you'd never know this was the same group as before, as former lead vocalist Kevin Dubrow is replaced
by ex-Rough Cutt singer Paul Shortino. The end result is a totally different sound. More mature than before, with
Shortino sounding very much like Whitesnake's David Coverdale, and the music evoking images
of mid-tempo Kiss.
Better than the previous effort, that's for sure, but overall still not a lot to get all
worked up over. Highlights include the upbeat tracks "King of the Hill," "In a Rush," and "Empty Promises," and the scattered
riffs of "The Joker."
