Quiet Riot--Condition Critical (1984)
Rating--8.6
Condition Critical--RealAudio
A solid and breathing release, despite the simplicity of it all. The songs are much catchier than on 'Metal Health,' and a lot of people had a problem
with that---but it's one of the very reasons I like it more. That, and the fact that the songs are just plain better!
The band
strikes once again with a Slade remake, this time in the form of "Mama Weer All Crazee Now." The title track is the ultimate
hidden gem, and has an excellent slow distortion crunch and a grueling chorus.
A number of carefree, straight-forward
summer/party tunes are featured, including "Sign of the Times," "Party All Night," and "Stomp Your Hands". Other songs, such as "Red Alert"
and "Scream and Shout," are on the heavier side.
In all, solid rock--though beware the hairspray.
